As summer tourism spiked in the Aspen area last month, so did the number of visitors and residents of neighboring counties who tested positive in Pitkin County for COVID-19.

I worked with another journalist in the reporting process. I collected the data, analyzed it, created charts and graphs.

In May 2019, the Health and Human Services Secretary, Alex Azar, announced that pharmaceutical companies would have to disclose drug prices in their TV commercials by the end of the summer. The goal: curbing drug prices. This story focuses on how much pharmaceutical companies have spent over time on TV ads—and on the consequences of these commercials on drug prices.

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a $10-billion project to build a seawall along the Lower Manhattan coast and to add offshore land to protect the island from sea level rise and flooding. But Manhattan is not the only borough in danger; the entire coastline of New York City is threatened by sea level rise.

In November 2018, the Redhawk Native American Arts Council performed in traditional outfits in front of a young audience at the Children's Museum of the Arts in Manhattan. Four months later, the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers planned a storytelling event to celebrate their indigenous heritage and culture.

Ranchers were left with a backlog of cattle earlier this year when meatpacking plants had to close or slow production due to COVID-19 outbreaks among employees and public health orders forced restaurants to shut down indoor dining. They are now facing the compounding challenge of a drought.
